These are the two biggest names when it comes to capturing your receipts and recording them in your accounting system for your small business.
The time savings gained by using these apps is game changing.
You can simply photograph your receipts and submit them into your accounting software. Then, bin the receipt. – It’s paperless document management.
Whilst these apps have been around for some time, a significant number of small business users are still going about business, saving, and storing hard docs, without use of these modern technologies.
“Dext” and “Hubdoc” work as follows:
- You take an imagine on the mobile app of your invoice, receipt or bill
(or alternatively, scan or email in) - Dext / Hubdoc will create a bill in your business’s accounts payable ledger – be it in Xero or MYOB or other.
- When you pay that bill, your accounting software will match the payment to that bill.
- Dext even codes the expense to your pre-programmed expense account.
-> And that is it.
Now, should you ever need to refer to an invoice for an expense incurred, you will search the supplier or account category in your accounting software, choose the relevant transaction, and you will see a PDF of the invoice attached to that transaction.
It is ATO approved.
“Dext Prepare” integrates with both Xero and MYOB, whilst Hubdoc is solely available for Xero users, but is free.
